Economic Development Services The ADD provides administrative assistance to the three Regional Business Parks and Regional Industrial Authorities in our area, as well as local development foundations and Chambers of Commerce in each county. Staff also works with local officials and organizations in the development of potential industrial sites and recruitment of industries to existing sites. Assistance is provided to Regional Authorities and local units of government in writing and administering grants for Local Government Economic Development funds, CDBG-ED funds, Economic Development Administration Funds, and other resources for economic development. The City of Hyden Receives Funding Funding for the project include $1,000,000 CDBG, $500,000 ARC, $ 206,500 US Army Corps of Engineers, $51,565 flood control funding, and $742,185 Rural Development Funding. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin later this year.

Whitesburg Sewer Plant Under Construction The City of Whitesburg has been awarded $ 7,474,000 in grants/loans from various sources for the construction of a new .600 mgd wastewater treatment plant and to extend wastewater collection service to approximately 60 households in the Whitco community. Funding for the project includes KIA grant, EPA, Rural Development grant and loan, CDBG, ARC, Coal Severance and KIA loan. The project is currently under construction, and on schedule for completion in December 2008. |

NEW CLIENTS LOCATE IN THE The Appalachian Industrial Authority recently sold approximately 16 acres in the Gateway Regional Business Park to Equitable Production Company of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Equitable Production Company will be constructing a compressor station on the site, as well as collection and distribution lines to and from the site. |

Kentucky Office of Homeland Security The Kentucky River ADD was awarded funds from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security and the CMRS Board for Interoperable Communications equipment. Funds were used to purchase computers for 911 Coordinator Offices. Carolyn Howard, KRADD Public Administration Specialist, is pictured below with County 911 Coordinators and representatives when they received their new computers.
